We caught up with our very own Pizza Lord!

Coming from Southern Queensland, Jaymouth has been mixing with the Easy Club since the early days. Well known for his goofy personality and the fact you can always find some sort of pizza attire on him I got the chance to asked him a few questions about his early days and what he has been up too lately.

You can hopefully catch him this year playing at Rhyme and Reef in Mackay on Saturday 2nd of October! Only if Lockdown is not in effect, please stay safe. We know it's hard missing out on amazing events but health and safety comes first.

Alright, first things first. Favourite pizza topping?

It's got to be meatlovers my dude, was the first pizza topping I ever ate, however pepperoni is a close second

So you started DJing in Toowoomba and Brisbane, what were the early years like for you?

I picked up my first controller when I was 18, began just playing birthday parties for mates around Toowoomba. I eventually upgraded to some CDJ's and entered my first DJ competition when I was 20. It was a complete and utter failure by me, lots of things went wrong but I went home with a desire to be better. A year or so later I teamed up with one of my mates and we formed a duo called 'RIMT' and began DJing at the Tatts in Toowoomba on the opening sets on Friday nights. We put in for Your Shot 2015 and were accepted as Wild Cards, and the day after our Your Shot set I moved to Townsville. We still keep in touch but he is no longer DJing.

By day you're a qualified Electrician, how do you balance your trade at day and DJing till late at night?

Honestly it's a bit of a struggle. I regularly have to turn down gigs for my day job. But I try to maintain an equal balance as I do love both of my jobs and want to make sure I don't burn out doing too much of one or the other.

You had to move up to Townsville for electrician work, how was it entering a new scene and finding new clubs to play at?

It was something I definitely was not ready for. The music scene in Townsville was completely different to what I was used to. I had a few gigs around Townsville early 2016 which really changed my outlook on what the music scene up here requires from their DJ's.

You joined up with The Way We Are to create AVNÜ, how did this come about?

Liam (TWWA) really gave me my first shot at regular gigs in Townsville, offered me a position in the Easy Club and the rest is history. The Easy Club was gaining attention and soon events organisers were asking for the easy club to be a part of their events. Liam and I took most of these gigs as a duo under 'The Easy Club DJ's' and eventually we decided to put a name on it. And thus AVNÜ was born, our mutual love of house/Tech house music is really the driving factor behind our project.

What's next from Jaymouth and AVNÜ? What can we expect to see in the future?

Well I have been working on a few tracks and remixes behind the scenes (during the covid lockdown) so hopefully a few of those will come out pretty soon for Jaymouth. As for AVNÜ we have a few cool gigs popping up, most notably we are heading down to Mackay in October for Rhythm and the Reef, which we are super excited to be a part of!
