Born amidst the rugged beauty of Mount Isa, and later finding his rhythm in the vibrant town of Townsville during his university days, Stephen “SARG” Batty discovered the pulse of his life through music. As a student partygoer and spirited bartender, he became attuned to the diverse sounds that stirred the souls of the night. Upon completing his education, fate beckoned him to the vibrant city of Rockhampton, where his passion for music took flight. It was here, behind the decks, that SARG’s true journey as a DJ began, breathing life into the dance floors of the town’s hottest venues. His spellbinding sets attracted attention, and he soon found himself at the heart of Rockhampton’s nightlife as the resident DJ of the renowned Goat at Night, formerly known as the iconic Giddy Goat. SARG’s mixing prowess and ability to seamlessly fuse House, R&B, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, and Innovative mashups made him a beloved fixture of the party scene. With each beat, he created an atmosphere that united revellers in a collective dancefloor euphoria. His passion for curating the perfect playlist, featuring the best of the best from the world of music, brought irresistible energy to every show. Earning his place on festival stages, SARG’s dynamic performances became a rare insight into his creative talent at events like So Cal in Yeppoon and the famed Sunset Session on Great Keppel Island. His magnetic stage presence and unwavering connection with the crowd solidified his reputation and earned his nickname “Who TF is that guy?” SARG’s journey as a DJ has been adorned with shining moments, having had the honour of opening, and closing sets for an impressive array of top-tier talents, including the likes of LO’99, Hood Rich, Odd Mob, Go Freek, Stace Cadet, Choomba, Hydraulix & Sippy. While SARG’s infectious beats might call for a high-energy celebration, his innate ability to craft musical narratives defines his performances.
